Air-Fryer Sticky Pork Belly Bites
Pork-belly cubes seasoned with five-spice and salt, air-fried until the fat renders and the edges crisp, then tossed in a sticky honey- soy-garlic glaze. The pub-style sticky pork bites, made at home in under thirty minutes.
Pork belly is the cut that rewards heat. The fat renders and crisps the skin (or in this case the cubed edges); the meat stays tender and rich. Cubed and air-fried, pork belly becomes a perfect bite- sized appetiser — every cube has crisp surfaces and a juicy interior.
The technique: cube the pork belly into ¾-inch pieces, toss with five-spice and salt, air-fry at 200°C for 18 minutes. The fat renders during cooking and self-bastes the cubes. Pull them out, toss in a quick sticky glaze (honey, soy, rice vinegar, garlic), return for 2 minutes to caramelise. The glaze becomes lacquer.
The photo shows the cubes piled on a metal tray: deeply browned with visible glossy glaze, scattered sesame seeds across the top, a small bowl of extra glaze on the side. Pub-food aesthetic but at home.
